About
Tobias Hieta
Toolchain, Build-System, and Compiler Developer · Gävle, Sweden
I build toolchains. Currently a Build and Toolchain Engineer at Larian Studios, and owner of Forge64 Consulting AB, where I help companies improve build infrastructure and compile-time performance. I specialize in LLVM, CMake, FASTBuild, Sharpmake, and the rest of the tooling needed to ship high-quality, performant C++ applications, drawing on a background in AAA games and a strong connection to the LLVM community.
Since 2022 I've served as a co-release manager for the LLVM project — release manager for LLVM's odd-numbered releases: 15.x, 17.x, 19.x, and 21.x — handling triage, merges, and fix reviews for each release, and driving improvements to the release process and tooling itself within the open-source project. Before that, I spent ten years at Plex leading build tooling and engineering, and over three years at Ubisoft Montréal maintaining the internal LLVM/Clang toolchain behind the Anvil, Snowdrop, and Voyage engines, including work shipping Assassin's Creed Shadows and Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced.
I'm also a co-host and co-founder of Kodsnack, one of the biggest Swedish-language developer podcasts, running since 2012, and a Professional Scrum Master (PSM I).
